Before you book

  • Cars in this class: Peugeot 3008, Citroën C4 Cactus, Opel Grandland. You book the class, not a named car. You will get one of these models or another car of the same size, never a smaller one, and you are told which car it is when you collect.
  • You choose manual or automatic when you book, and the car you collect has that gearbox. Automatics in this class start at €11.18 a day.
  • Licence held 2 years or more, minimum age 21. Drivers under 25 pay a young-driver fee, shown in your total.
  • The hold needs a credit card in the main driver's name. Debit, prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for it.
  • Fuel is like for like. The level is recorded with you at pickup and the car comes back at the same level.
  • Add your flight number at checkout so delays are tracked and your car is held.
  • Pick-up and drop-off are both in Luqa. One-way returns are not available.

The SUV in Malta

Five seats and a boot of about 500 litres, rated for three bags with everyone seated: the load a family of four usually lands with. The higher seat helps at Malta’s many roundabouts, and the longer body rides the patched rural lanes more calmly than a small car.

Will a family of four with luggage fit in an SUV?

Usually, yes: four people and three large suitcases, with soft bags around them. With four large suitcases and a pushchair, look at the leisure van, or the 7-seater with its third row folded.

Is an SUV hard to park in Malta?

It fits standard bays, but bays in the older towns are short and kerbside spaces fill quickly in summer. The car parks on the edge of each town are the easy answer.
