Before you book
- Cars in this class: Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner / Rifter. You book the class, not a named car. You will get one of these models or another car of the same size, never a smaller one, and you are told which car it is when you collect.
- You choose manual or automatic when you book, and the car you collect has that gearbox. Automatics in this class start at €11.43 a day.
- Licence held 2 years or more, minimum age 21. Drivers under 25 pay a young-driver fee, shown in your total.
- The hold needs a credit card in the main driver's name. Debit, prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for it.
- Fuel is like for like. The level is recorded with you at pickup and the car comes back at the same level.
- Add your flight number at checkout so delays are tracked and your car is held.
- Pick-up and drop-off are both in Luqa. One-way returns are not available.
The leisure van in Malta
A tall, square van with sliding rear doors, five seats and a boot of about 775 litres. A pushchair goes in upright, and the sliding doors open fully in tight spaces where a hinged door would hit the next car.
Beach chairs, a cool box and dive kit fit with room to spare. It parks in a normal bay.
Does the leisure van need a special licence?
No. It has five seats and drives on a standard category B car licence. The same rules as every class apply: minimum age 21 and a licence held for 2 years.
Leisure van or 7-seater?
The leisure van has the bigger boot with five seats in use. The 7-seater adds two seats but loses most of its boot when they are up. Five people with a lot of luggage: the leisure van. Six or seven people: the 7-seater.
