Before you book

  • Cars in this class: Peugeot 2008, Citroën C3 Aircross, Jeep Renegade. You book the class, not a named car. You will get one of these models or another car of the same size, never a smaller one, and you are told which car it is when you collect.
  • You choose manual or automatic when you book, and the car you collect has that gearbox. Automatics in this class start at €12.22 a day.
  • Licence held 2 years or more, minimum age 21. Drivers under 25 pay a young-driver fee, shown in your total.
  • The hold needs a credit card in the main driver's name. Debit, prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for it.
  • Fuel is like for like. The level is recorded with you at pickup and the car comes back at the same level.
  • Add your flight number at checkout so delays are tracked and your car is held.
  • Pick-up and drop-off are both in Luqa. One-way returns are not available.

The compact SUV in Malta

A raised crossover with five seats and a boot of about 410 litres, rated for two bags. It takes up about the same space as a compact hatchback, so it parks like one, but you sit higher and see over the low rubble walls that line the country lanes.

It suits a day on Gozo, where the higher seat helps on the narrow rural roads and the climb to Victoria and the Cittadella.
